Recycling Old Appliances

The UK’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations require that all retailers of electrical goods assist in delivering a nation-wide collection/recycling system to encourage consumers to recycle old or unwanted electronic equipment.

You may:

  1. Take the item to your local council recycling site or you can contact them to arrange a home collection of larger items (there may be a small charge for this service).
  2. Bring the item into the store.
  3. If you would like your old appliance taken away at the same time we deliver your new one, our ‘Recycling on Delivery Service’ is available to you and we can dispose of any packaging too.

Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams. Much of it can be recycled.

All electrical items sold now carry the ‘crossed-out wheeled bin’ symbol. Unwanted electrical items should not be placed into your normal domestic waste.

Please be aware of the potential effects on the environment and human health as a result of the presence of hazardous substances in EEE.

 Battery Disposal

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, we offer a take-back scheme for all portable waste batteries You can bring in your waste batteries to us.

We don’t accept industrial batteries or car batteries.  For information on how to dispose of these, please contact your supplier or Tendring District Council.
